If you have been passed over for promotions, then you need to understand the Corporate internal process better. Promotions happen when the credentials you have are coupled with exceeding your metrics. “I exceeded my metrics,” you say. Then look at your credentials.
The credentials you have were enough to get the job you have. Upgraded credentials are needed for promotions. Often companies set aside funds to help you gain those credentials while you work there.
Never heard that before. Well, check your employment paperwork. It’s typically in there. Or, a quick email to HR about ‘What are the tuition assistance benefits (TAP) available to me?’ will do the trick.
Once you know, then you can find a company that aligns with giving you the credentials and certificates that you need.
Dale Carnegie has been very, very busy the past few years adding opportunities for skill development through Tuition Assistance Benefits.
When I was at Computer Associates (now CA Technologies) a while back, I leveraged this TAP benefit to help me sell more – a lot more. (Email me and I’ll tell you how I did that at info@CarnegieConnection.com). Also, many of us leveraged these certificates to gain promotions into management. Some also used the skills they gained to successfully start there own business.
These credentials are often tied to Professional Associations. You company and/or you may belong to one of these below. Check them out.
Here is a list of the Professional Associations that Dale Carnegie works with to create our list of credentials:
These are tied to specific training courses that give College credits. Also many are aligned to specific Continuing Education Units (CEU) that Professionals, like you, need annually.
Are you ready to gain the credentials and certificates you need to get ahead this year?
